This
Virtual
Online Classify experience has led you through
thematic
classification, showing real world applications,
summarised as:
- The concept of thematic classification and the reasoning behind
grouping data into classes.
- The determination of class intervals and class boundaries.

- Classification techniques to ensure the geographical pattern
of the distribution is optimally portrayed to reveal the thematic
implications.
- How the number of classes can be influenced by whether a greyscale
or chromatic tonal values are used to display the choropleth map.
|
|
|
|
You should be able to:
- understand
why data needs to be grouped and formed into classes.
- determine
the class intervals and subsequent boundaries from a given set
of data. Further, you should be able to conclude which classification
technique best suits the data to optimally display the geographic
pattern.
- appreciate
the virtues of either grey scale or chromatic tonal values in
the depiction of the resulting choropleth map.
