Canning River Regional Park Study Area

The Canning River Regional Park is situated alongside the Canning River in Perth, Western Australia. The study area explored in this virtual fieldwork excursion is adjacent to the Kent Street Weir entrance in the Cannington suburb (indicated by the asterisk).

The area is parkland nested within urban Perth, 9 kilometers southeast of the central business district. The park extends for approximately 6 kilometers between the Shelley and Nicholson Road bridges. Vegetation types in the areas subject to inundation are notably different (eg. salt bushes) to the higher areas in which grasses predominate.

Field trips to the study region

The Canning River Regional Park is situated very close to Curtin University of Technology. A short 4-minute drive east brings you to the Kent Street Weir car park.

Because of its close proximity, it is an ideal site for field trips. On-campus students have the pleasure of physically doing fieldwork there. You will have the pleasure of doing virtual fieldwork there. Enjoy!
