Canning
River Regional Park Study Area
The
Canning River Regional Park
is situated alongside the Canning River in Perth, Western Australia.
The study area explored in this virtual fieldwork excursion is adjacent
to the Kent Street Weir entrance in the Cannington suburb (indicated
by the asterisk).
The area is parkland nested within urban Perth, 9 kilometers southeast
of the central business district. The park extends for approximately
6 kilometers between the Shelley and Nicholson Road bridges. The
topography is predominately low-lying and subject to seasonal inundation
from the river. Vegetation types in the areas subject to inundation
are notably different (eg. salt bushes) to the higher areas
in which grasses predominate.
