Datasets Available for Download

These data, Sanmarina Church (Greece) and Golden Buddha (Thailand) have been made available as standard, realworld datasets for testing and comparing algorithms, such as registration software. The data is free to obtain although you must request it from the working group (see below).

Samarina Church
Object:   Byzantine church.
Site:  Near Kalamata, Greece.
Dimensions:  Approximately 10m (W) x 20m (L) x 15m (H).
Laser scanner:  Cyra Cyrax 2500.
Survey date:  June, 2004.
File format:  ASCII files; one file per scan; Cyra *.pts file.
File sizes:  Each compressed WinZip file is not greater than 12MB. Each uncompressed PTS file is not greater than 30MB.
Data format:  4 columns [x, y, z, intensity].
Number of scans:  8. Each scan located around the building (for complete coverage). Scans are labelled according the their setup location: (1) east, (2) south east, (3) south, (4) south west, (5) west, (6) north west, (7) north and (8) north east.
Nominal sampling interval:  0.010m at an object distance of 10m.
Scan coordinate system:  Each scan is ungeoreferenced and exists in the original scanner reference frame.
Project coordinate system:  A survey network has been established consisting of approximately 600 coordinated points. The survey was conducted using radiations from a total station. This survey data is available.
Ancillary data:  Survey control file of targets (ASCII) with sketch maps; colour photographs.
Metafile:  samarina_church.txt.
Abstract:  Data acquired for a cultural heritage project. All of these scans were acquired at ground level.
Photographs:  Each of the following photographs were taken at each approximate scanner setup location. A larger archive of photographs is available if users wish to investigate texture mapping.

Golden Buddha
Object:   Golden Buddha
Site:  Wat Suthat, Bangkok, Thailand.
Dimensions:  Approximately 8m (W) x 4m (L) x 10m (H).
Laser scanner:  Riegl LMSZ-210
File format:  ASCII files; one file per scan.
Data format:  8 columns [x, y, z, r, g, b, intensity].
Number of scans:  Two scans : One from left of room (100,860 points) and the other from the right (107,451 points)
